Coastal Communities Fund Project

The Coastal Communities Fund (CCF) aims to encourage the economic development of UK coastal communities by awarding funding to create sustainable economic growth and jobs.

The Vale of Glamorgan council have been awarded a Coastal Communities grant through its rural economic development department, Creative Rural Communities.

Through this grant, The Vale of Glamorgan Council will be ‘maximising the employment potential of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast’ by encouraging the development of new businesses and supporting existing businesses along the coastline, as well as making capital improvements in the area. Here is a quick summary of some of the project outcomes and activity to date.

Slipway at Dunraven Bay

The planned improvements to the slipway at Dunraven Bay, Southerndown took place between October and November 2015 and the improved slipway is now open for use which will enable full public access to the beach. As part of these access improvements, beach wheelchairs will also be available for the use on the slipway & the beach in the New Year. If you would like to obtain a beach wheelchair to use whilst visiting the beach, they can be collected from the Heritage Coast Centre.
