These events are delivered by the Sports and Play Development Team or local community clubs and organisations.

Wenvoe Castle Golf Club

Future Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup hopefuls now have a great chance to brush up on their golf skills as Wenvoe Castle Golf Club are offering the following sessions: 

  • Junior Sessions every Saturday from 1:00pm - 4:00pm (4 - 18 years)

  • Adult Sessions every Sunday from 10:00am - 12:00pm (male) and 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Cost: £2 training fee per session, £20 subscription | First session is free to all newcomers

The Urdd run a number of clubs in the Vale offering opportunities to participate in a variety of sports through the medium of Welsh. Clubs include activities such as swimming, netball, gymnastics, street dance and football.

New children's dance classes suitable for youngsters aged 4 - 6 years and is a great way of having fun, making new friends and learning to dance: Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle, Swing, Salsa, Rock 'n' Roll.

Parents/guardians are to accompany child throughout classes.

A great way to keep fit, make friends and have fun. Barry RFC have girls' teams for under 12's, under 15's and under 18's and would welcome all newcomers to come and have a go. Training is held at 10:15am every Sunday. Barry Ladies RFC train on Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm.

Cottrell Park

Come along to Cottrell Park Golf Resort for free golf coaching for boys and girls aged between 7-18years all year round. 

In the summer, experience intensive outdoor practice on the golf range and on the chipping/putting green. Tuition also given on the golf course.

In the winter, training is held in the state of the art indoor simulators and under-cover driving range, with classroom exercises.

Extend active body and mind matters

Penarth Lower Community Centre, Brockhill Way

Extend Active Body -  gentle physical activities and dancing for all Seniors. Mobility difficulties no problem: sitting or standing exercises, to do all at home too. 

Mind Matters:  puzzles, quizzes, games, talks, visits. All Seniors wanting to meet other people and to keep their brains active. 

Cost: FREE - but £1 combined charge to cover refreshments and extras.

Local Tennis Leagues serves up a great chance to play 

Vale residents have a great opportunity to play friendly, competitive tennis matches in the new Barry & Vale Tennis League, whether they are member of a tennis club or not.  Open to men and women aged 18 and above, the league is for players of all standards. Players are organised into groups of 6-8 people of a similar level and they arrange their own matches at mutually convenient times over 8 week rounds.

 

Entry costs £18 per round and each player has between 5 to 7 matches to play per round. Players may use any public court that suits them both.


Round 5 of the Barry & the Vale Tennis League runs from Thursday 10 August  to Wednesday 4 October. You can enter the league by going to

Disability-Bicycle--Boy-on-bike

Vale Adaptive Cycling Club

Wednesdays and Fridays, 1.00pm - 5.00pm

The club has specialist adaptive bikes, trikes, tandems etc., enabling children, young people and adults with varying disabilities to access and enjoy the exhilaration of cycling. The club requires more volunteers to deliver this project and are seeking corporate sponsors and fundraisers to secure the future of the project.  Suggested hourly session donation: £3.00
