Copy Certificates for Births, Marriages, Civil Partnerships and Deaths

 

The Superintendent Registrar holds registration records for births, marriages, civil partnerships and deaths that took place in the Vale of Glamorgan from 1837.

 

Please Note: Registration boundaries have changed over the years and some records may be held in other registration districts.

 

Boundary Information

 

Information can only be released in the form of a certificate. You can apply for a copy certificate by post, telephone or in person. You will need to provide the following information:

  • the type of certificate you are seeking (birth, marriage, death or civil partnership)
  • the name or names the certificate applies to
  • the date of the event
  • the place of the event
  • any other relevant information that may help us to locate the certificate

 

Copy Certificates 

Certificate ready within 5 working days.

 

Cost: £10.00 (Collection only)

Postage: £2.00 (Sent first class)

Priority Copy Certificate

Certificate ready after 3.00pm on the next working day.

 

Cost: £17.00 (Collection only)

Postage: £2.00 (Sent first class)

 

How to Apply

Apply by Phone

Applications can be made by phone and payment will be taken at the same time.

Apply at Register Office

Applications may be made in person at the Vale of Glamorgan Register Office at the Civic Offices in Barry. This involves the completion of a short application form. Payment can be made by cash only. 

 

Apply by post

Applications should be accompanied by a cheque or postal order made payable to: 'Superintendent Registrar'. If multiple certificates are required, we advise that you send separate cheques for each registration entry.

Providing the information given is full and accurate, we will issue a certificate within the timescales mentioned above. If we are unable to trace the entry you have requested, we will return your cheque or postal order to you.
