County Treasures

During 1974 the South Glamorgan County Council started to produce a list of historic assets located in the county, these are now known as County Treasures

Each of the 27 community areas within the Vale has been surveyed by a volunteer workforce of local people: teachers, history society members, local Councillors and other interested individuals have recorded the many items that could be of architectural and historic interest.

This inventory provides an account of what is considered of local importance by local people. It contains scheduled monuments, listed buildings, listed parks and gardens and buildings that are of local importance but that are not contained within the statutory list.

Please note: Entry on the list does not imply any right of access to properties that are not in public ownership. The privacy of property owners should be respected at all times.

Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council has prepared Supplementary Planning Guidance relating to the locally important buildings to supplement its Adopted Unitary Development Plan.

The Supplementary Planning Guidance document provides further information on the criteria for selection of a locally listed building and the planning policy background for buildings contained within the list.
