Previous stages of the Vale of Glamorgan Local Development Plan (LDP)

Further Matters Arising Changes (February 2017)

The Council consulted on the proposed Further Matters Arising Changes (FMACs) during a 6-week public consultation that ran from 17 February to 31 March 2017.  These changes emerged as a result of the matters arising from additional hearing sessions held in January and February 2017 (Hearing Sessions 24 -26b).

Matters Arising Changes (September 2016)

The Council consulted on a number of proposed changes that have emerged as a result of matters arising during the hearing sessions of the Examination. The proposed changes are called Matters Arising Changes (MACs) and are set out in the MAC Schedule (September 2016).  The six week consultation period on the MACs was held from 16 September to 28 October 2016. All duly made representations were considered by the Inspector and are contained within the MAC Representations Register (November 2016).  


Submission of the LDP to the Welsh Government and Planning Inspectorate

Following the decision of Council on the 24th June 2015 (Council Minute 153), and in accordance with Regulation 22 of the Town and Country Planning (LDP) (Wales) Regulations 2005, the Vale of Glamorgan LDP together with the necessary supporting documentation was submitted to the Welsh Government and the Planning Inspectorate for independent examination on 24th July 2015.

Focused Changes Consultation (2015)

At the same time as submitting the LDP to the Welsh Government and the Planning Inspectorate for examination, the Council consulted on the Focused Changes to theDeposit LDP which were proposed as a consequence of the Deposit LDP and Alternative Sites consultations. The consultation took place from 24th July to 4th September 2015. The Schedule of Focused and Minor Changes can be found in the Examination Library referenced as document SD05. The Focused Changes Representations Register (2015) contains a copy of the duly made representations on the Focused Changes. 

Alternative Sites Consultation (2014)

Following the public consultation on the Deposit Local Development Plan, the Council consulted on the site allocation representations that were received. These were the suggested sites that individuals and organisations consider should be allocated in the Plan, removed from the Plan or amended in some way. The Alternative Sites public consultation took place over the 6 week period from Thursday 20th March and ending on Thursday 1st May 2014.

Deposit Plan Consultation (2013)

Following the decision of Council on 23rd October 2013, the Vale of Glamorgan Deposit Local Development Plan 2011 - 2026 and associated documents underwent a formal 6 week public consultation ending at 5pm on Friday 20th December 2013.

In January 2007, the Council agreed to adopt the vision contained within the Vale of Glamorgan Community Strategy (2003-2013) as the vision for the Local Development Plan (LDP). The vision informed the development of the LDP draft preferred strategy which was subject to consultation in January and February 2008. View the LDP Visioning Paper.

Candidate Sites (2006/2007)

The Council invited developers, landowners and other interested parties to nominate “candidate sites” for potential inclusion in the emerging LDP between 4 December 2006 and 31 January 2007. Find out more about candidate sites.

Draft Preferred Strategy and Initial Sustainability Appraisal Report including key background documents (2007)

The production of a Draft Preferred Strategy is one of the first stages in the production of the LDP. Further information on the consultation documents, key background documents, Cabinet Reports and associated documents is available.

2012 Deposit Plan

On 25 January 2012, the Vale of Glamorgan Council approved the 2012 Deposit LDP and associated documents for public consultation purposes. The six week public consultation commenced on 20 February and ended at 5.00pm on 2 April 2012.


On 23 January 2013, the Council resolved not to progress any further with the Deposit LDP (February 2012) and to commence work immediately on a replacement Deposit LDP. 

The Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Wales) Regulations 2004

On 14 August 2006, the Vale of Glamorgan Council, as the responsible authority, determined that the Vale of Glamorgan Local Development Plan (LDP) is likely to have significant environmental effects and accordingly a Strategic Environmental Assessment will be carried out during the preparation of the Plan and any subsequent reviews of the Plan. Approved Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report (2007)

The Approved Scoping Report outlines the initial stage of the Sustainability Appraisal process and establishes the sustainability context and the baseline information for the Vale of Glamorgan. Find out more about the Approved Scoping Report.
