The Vale Family Information Service has compiled a programme of all activities for children and families during the holidays. It contains information on activities provided by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, charities in the Vale and private organisations.

Atlantic Outdoors Activity Camp – Atlantic College, St Donats

From Monday 24 July and various dates throughout the Summer Holidays

  • 8.30am – 5.00pm


We are running a series of one week children’s non residential multi-activity programmes.

Activities include Climbing, Archery, High Ropes, Swimming and Pool games and Orienteering as well as more conventional team and individual sports such as badminton, basketball and indoor hockey Children will be provided with a cold drink and a snack in the morning and afternoon as well as a hot buffet style lunch in the Castle dining hall.

Group age ranges 8yrs – 12yrs and 13yrs – 16yrs

Cost: £150 per child for the 5 full days of activities

Activities include: A 4 week mini course to learn the basics of British Sign Language aimed at children, with a certificate awarded at the end of the course.

Taking place at the House of Sport Clos Parc Morgannwg Cardiff CF1 8AW.

The five-day soccer school will involve structured coaching mixed in with fun football games and small sided matches. It will be a great way to keep the kids active over the school holidays whilst receiving professional coaching from Cardiff City Coaches.

Taking place at Cardiff International Sports Stadium, Leckwith Road, Cardiff 8AZ.

The soccer school will involve an action packed morning of Football where the young players will have the opportunity to take part in fun, structured coaching sessions where they can develop their tricks and skills in a fun, structured, enjoyable environment.  During the afternoon the young players will have the opportunity to implement their tricks and skills they learnt from the morning in a structured, fun and engaging small sided games.

Suitable for 4yrs – 14yrs

Cost: £20

Can all players also bring their own packed lunch and plenty to drink for the whole of the day and also players to wear suitable playing kit, sports shoes (trainers no spikes) and a jacket.

Activities include: Half hour free swimming lesson for children and young people with additional needs, front crawl, breast stroke, back stroke, and butterfly.

 

Llantwit Major – times will vary due to pool programme.  Free Swimming Lessons for Wave 5 or 50m swimmers and above.  Free Lessons could be subject to change.  All simming lessons must be booked at the site you wish to attend.

 

Beginner and improver Crash Course Swimming Lessons run from Monday – Friday during the holidays at Barry Penarth and Llantwit Major.  Please ask at reception for the sites programme as each holiday may vary.

Omidaze Summer Schools

Parents and Tots Corner

From the 26 July and every Wednesday throughout the Summer Holidays 2017 

  • 9.50am - 11.00am


They are suitable for pre-school children and their siblings up to the age of eight years approximately. There will be a different theme every week and each session will consist of sensory play, craft, stories, imaginative play, singing and signing.

At St David's Methodist Church Hall in Barry and there will be a certificate presented every time a child attends a session.

Sessions will run as follows:-

26th July. Elmer's Day
2nd August. Safari Adventure
9th August. Around the world
16th August Under the sea
23rd August. At the seaside
30th August. Minibeasts 

 

Sessions are being offered at a discounted price of £4.00 for the first child and £1 for each additional sibling for those who sign up in advance. You can still sign up without paying in advance but the normal prices of £4.50 for the first child and £2 for each addition, sibling will apply. You don't need to pre pay for all the sessions at once, a week at a time is fine.

Payment can be made either in person or through PayPal. If you haven't got PayPal it is worth setting up as it can be used to pay for a number of things online and is free to set up. The session/s you wish to pre-book for will need to be specified and payment will not be refunded or transferred to another session if you do not attend.

St Donats Castle Tour

Description Explore St Donat’s hidden delights on your guided tour through the castle and its exquisitely manicured Tudor gardens.  Meet your Guide at St Donat’s Art Centre shortly before starting your tour at 2pm.  You will then be led on an adventure through time – several hundred years in approximately 1 hour.  You may wish to explore the Tudor Gardens at your own leisure.
