Assisted Places Scheme

Funding to support the improvement in the welfare or quality of life of a child with a disability / additional need, or a child in need by providing good quality childcare to support the child's needs.

 

The Assisted Places Scheme is directed by the Children and Young People's Partnership in the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

 

Funding is available to support the improvement in the welfare or quality of life of a child with a disability / additional learning need, or a child in need by providing quality childcare to support the child's needs.  Funding supports children in registered preschool and out of school childcare settings.

 

Children are offered a maximum of 2 x 2.5/3 hour sessions per week for up to 12 weeks initially. Placements are reviewed every 12 weeks and subject to funding available could be extended. Referrals can be made via a range of different agencies including: Health Visitors, Social Workers, schools, Child Health and Disability Team and many more.

 

Criteria for funding:

  • A child with emotional / behavioural difficulties
  • Learning disability
  • Physical disability
  • Speech, language and communications difficulties
  • A child from a low income family or a family in receipt of out of work benefits
