By Rail

The nearest principal main line railway station is Cardiff Central Station where connections to destinations throughout Wales and the UK can be made. You can get to Cardiff Airport by rail from Cardiff or Bridgend on the Vale of Glamorgan line with Arriva Trains Wales. A Shuttle Bus service connects the Airport with Rhoose (Cardiff Airport) Rail Station.

By Bus

Two services directly serve Cardiff Airport's passenger terminal.  

The frequent Cardiff Airport Express Service T9 between the Airport Terminal and the Welsh Capital City, Cardiff and the Rail Link Service 905 between the Airport Terminal and Rhoose (Cardiff Airport) Rail Station. Both these services are currently provided by New Adventure Travel Ltd (Tel: 029 20 442 040), which also provides Local Bus Service 303/304 (Bridgend – Barry – Cardiff) that serves bus stops located on Port Road adjacent to the Holiday inn Express, which is within walking distance to the Airport Terminal. Cardiff Airport Express Service T9 


The 'Cardiff Airport Express Service T9’ connects Cardiff Airport with our Capital City, Cardiff. The service generally runs every 20 minutes, 7 days a week throughout the summer period (1 April to 31 October) and every 30 minutes during the winter period (1 November to 31 March) with reduced frequencies at the start and end of the daily services (see timetables for times).


Limited stops are served on route for those travelling to or from the Airport only.



The limited stops currently served on route include the Holiday Inn Express (Port Road, Cardiff Airport - outbound only), Sky Plaza Hotel (Port Road, Cardiff Airport), Travelodge (Cwm Ciddy, Port Road, Barry), Highlight Park (Port Road West, Barry), Golwg y Coed (Port Road East, Barry), Premier Inn (Walston Castle, Port Road, Wenvoe), Cardiff Bay (Red Dragon Centre, Hemingway Road), Marriott Hotel (Cardiff Centre, Customhouse Street) and Penarth Road (opposite the car park and rear entrance to Cardiff Central Rail Station). This service is operated by New Adventure Travel Ltd (Tel: 029 20 442 040).

Please note that travel remains restricted to journeys commencing or terminating at the Cardiff Airport terminal bus stop either to or from the limited bus stops on route only.


PLEASE NOTE: Service T9 no longer serves Cardiff Bus Station due to its recent closure for redevelopment. Instead passengers are advised to use bus stops located on Customhouse Street (i.e. opposite the rear of the Marriott Hotel) or Penarth Road (i.e. opposite the car park and rear entrance to Cardiff Central Rail Station); sorry for any inconvenience. 


Cardiff Airport Rail Link Bus Service 905

The 'Cardiff Airport Rail Link Bus Service 905' operated by New Adventure Travel (Tel: 029 20 442040) connects Rhoose (Cardiff Airport) Rail Station with Cardiff Airport passenger terminal. The service is scheduled to meet all rail service arrivals and departures on the Vale of Glamorgan line at Rhoose (Cardiff Airport) Rail Station. The service also serves the Holiday Inn Express near Cardiff Airport and also extends to serve the British Airways Maintenance Centre, St Athan Village, MOD St Athan Enterprise Zone and Eglwys Brewis at peak times Mondays to Fridays.

Service 303/304 (Bridgend – Barry – Cardiff)

New Adventure Travel also provides service 303/304, which serves bus stops located on Port Road adjacent to the Holiday In Express, within walking distance to the terminal building at Cardiff Airport. Service 303/304 runs between Bridgend and Cardiff serving Ewenny, Ogmore-by-Sea, Southerndown, Wick, Broughton, Monknash, Marcross, St Donat's (Atlantic College), Llantwit Major, Boverton, Eglwys Brewis, MOD St Athan, St Athan Village, East Aberthaw, Rhoose,  Holiday Inn Express (Port Road for Cardiff Airport), Barry, Dinas Powys, Eastbrook, and Cardiff Bay. 



By Coach

The National Express Coach Service operates regular direct services to the coach terminus at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, where onward transport to the Airport can be obtained by Shuttle Bus Service T9C that links with the Cardiff Airport Express Service T9 on Penarth Road, opposite the rear of Cardiff Central Rail Station. Service T9C runs between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00 hours, departing from Sophia Gardens at 00 and 30 minutes past each hour and  Penarth Road (Cardiff Central Station) at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour.

By Car
