Post-16 School Transport

Free school transport is provided for post-16 pupils who reside beyond the statutory walking distances of over 3 miles is under review.

 

There is other assistance available for post-16 school transport:

 

St. David's College and other Sixth Form School students

The transportation unit only supply free bus passes for Sixth form students studying in schools and St. David's College.

Further Education Students Travel Grant for 16-19 Year Olds

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has a discretionary policy that provides financial help towards travelling to and from a student's chosen educational establishment. Eligibilty Criteria: aged 16 - 19 years old on or before the start of the academic year in which you are applying; living more than 3 miles away from your chosen educational establishment, which would normally be a Further Education College, such as a Cardiff and Vale College, etc.

 

 

Please contact the Passenger Transport Team for an application form. However, if you are not eligible under the above scheme, your chosen educational establishment may be willing to help using their Financial Contingency Funds. Visit schools and colleges to explain what support is available for students.
