What is a BID Ballot?

A BID Ballot is a postal ballot for non-domestic rates in a given area.

The aim is business improvement/development.

It is a Yes or No Vote.

A BID Ballot is not scheduled at particular intervals, only when called for by a local business.

If the majority of businesses vote yes, then all the local businesses will pay higher rates.  This higher rate will be saved and used for future improvements and developments.

For the BID Ballot to be successful: More than 50% of the votes cast must be in favour of the BID proposal, and the majority in favour of the BID proposal must represent more than 50% of the aggregate rateable value of the hereditaments in respect of the votes cast.
