EARLY RETIREMENT/REDUNDANCY COMMITTEE

 

Minutes of a meeting held on 17th October, 2016.

 

Present:  Councillor S.C. Egan (Chairman); Councillor Mrs. B.E. Brooks (Vice-Chairman); Councillors G. John and A.P. Riley.

 

 

449     APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE -

 

These were received from Councillors Mrs. M. Kelly Owen and Mrs. A. Moore.

 

 

450     MINUTES -

 

RESOLVED - T H A T the minutes of the meeting held on 5th September, 2016 be approved as a correct record.

 

 

451     DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST -

 

No declarations were received.

 

 

452     EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC -

 

RESOLVED - T H A T under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 4 of Schedule 12A (as amended) of the Act, the relevant paragraphs of the Schedule being referred to in brackets after the minute heading.

 

 

453     DETERMINATION OF VOLUNTARY EARLY RETIREMENT ON THE GROUNDS OF REDUNDANCY - D (EXEMPT INFORMATION - PARAGRAPHS 13 AND 14) (DEH) -

 

Consideration was given to one application for voluntary early retirement on the grounds of redundancy (Scheme E) in respect of one employee within the Directorate of Environment and Housing.

 

RESOLVED -

 

(1)       T H A T the redundancy be approved in respect of D with effect from 31st October, 2016 on the basis of Scheme E of the Council’s Early Retirement / Redundancy Scheme in accordance with the statutory benefits set out in Appendix A to the report, subject to Resolution (2) below.

 

(2)       T H A T should alternative employment be available for D, notice will be extended to cover any trial period, and if that trial period proves a success and the employee accepts the alternative position, Resolution (1) above be revoked, together with the redundancy payment.

 

Reasons for decisions

 

(1)       To determine the application in accordance with the Council’s Early Retirement/Redundancy Scheme.

 

(2)       To comply with the terms of the Council’s Avoiding Redundancy Policy.
