1059   DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST -

 

Councillors S.C. Egan, A.M. Ernest, Mrs. A.J. Moore, N. Moore, Mrs. M.R. Wilkinson and C.J. Williams declared an interest in Agenda Item No. 3(a) - Employee Pay Policy, on the basis that members of their families were employed by the Council, and left the meeting during consideration of this item.

 

 

1060   EMPLOYEE PAY POLICY -

 

Cabinet on 14th March, 2012 considered and endorsed a draft Employee Pay Policy as required by the Localism Act 2011.  The Council had a statutory requirement under the Localism Act 2011 to prepare a pay policy statement.  The first statement had to be approved and published by 31st March, 2012. 

 

The Policy had been produced on the basis of statutory guidance, and with advice from the Welsh Local Government Association and would be reviewed and updated on an annual basis in accordance with the requirements of the Act.  The Policy would provide a framework for ensuring that employees were rewarded fairly and objectively in accordance with the service needs of the Council and that there was openness and transparency in relation to the process.

 

The Policy was now able to reflect the provisions of the Green Book/Single Status Pay Structure as set out in the collective agreement as signed by the Unions in December 2011, and as implemented on 1st March, 2012.

 

RESOLVED - T H A T the Employee Pay Policy, as attached at Appendix A to the report to Cabinet on 14th March, 2012 and Council on 28th March, 2012, be approved.
