SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE

 

Minutes of a meeting held on 30th June, 2014.

 

Present: Councillor N. Moore (Chairman); Councillor S.C. Egan (Vice-Chairman); Councillors L. Burnett and G. John.

 

Also present: Councillor C.P.J. Elmore (Portfolio responsibility: Children’s Services).

 

 

136            APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE –

 

These were received from Councillors C.P. Franks and J.W. Thomas.

 

 

137            MINUTES –

 

RESOLVED – T H A T the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd June, 2014 be approved as a correct record.

 

 

138            DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST – 

 

No declarations were received.

 

 

139            RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR HEAD OF SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT AND INCLUSION (CLSO) –

 

The Committee was provided with an update on the recruitment and selection arrangements for the above post.  The Committee noted that eight applications had been received following the advertising of the post in TES, Guardian and the Western Mail. 

 

RESOLVED – T H A T the position in regard to the recruitment and selection arrangements in respect of the Head of School Improvement and Inclusion be noted.

 

Reason for decision

 

 

 

140            EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC –

 

RESOLVED – T H A T under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 4 of Schedule 12A (as amended) of the Act, the relevant paragraphs of the Schedule being referred to in brackets after the minute heading.

 

 

141            RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR HEAD OF SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT AND INCLUSION (CLSO) (EXEMPT INFORMATION – PARAGRAPHS 12 AND 13) –

 

The Chief Learning and Skills Officer, in liaison with the Managing Director, had undertaken a long listing exercise of the eight applications received in respect of the above post.  Tabled for consideration by the Committee were the comments of the above officers in regard to each of the applications received and recommendations in regard to those applicants who should go forward to the assessment centre / informal interviews on 8th July. 

 

Having considered the tabled information it was

 

RESOLVED – T H A T the following applicants G.; K.; W. and W. be agreed for officer interviews and assessment centre on 8th July and those successful applicants following this exercise to go forward to the final interviews on 21st July 2014.

 

Reason for decision

 

To confirm those candidates that would go forward to the preliminary assessment and officer interviews.
