SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE

 

Minutes of a meeting held on 5th April, 2017.

 

Present:  Councillor N. Moore (Chairman); Councillor L. Burnett (Vice-Chairman); Councillors C.P. Franks, R.A. Penrose and J.W. Thomas.

 

Also present: Councillor Ms. B.E. Brooks (Cabinet Member with portfolio relevant to Agenda Item No. 4).

 

 

1008           APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE –

 

These were received from Councillors P. King (Cabinet Member observer and portfolio holder – Agenda item 5; Councillors S. C. Egan and C.P. Franks (Agenda items 5 and 6).

 

 

           EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC –

 

RESOLVED – T H A T under Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 4 of Schedule 12A (as amended) of the Act, the relevant paragraphs of the Schedule being referred to in brackets after the minute heading.

 

 

1010            RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES (MD) (EXEMPT INFORMATION – PARAGRAPHS 12, 13 AND 15) –

           

The Committee received a presentation and interviewed two candidates in respect of the above post.

 

Having given due consideration, it was

 

RESOLVED –

 

(1)          T H A T C be appointed to the post of Director of Social Services, with the appointment being made at the first salary point of the Directors’ salary range.

 

(2)          T H A T the Managing Director, in consultation with the Leader and the Head of Human Resources, be granted delegated powers to finalise the commencement date of the appointment.

 

Reason for decisions

 

(1&2)  To appoint a candidate to the above post.

 

 

1011            RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HEAD OF HOUSING AND BUILDING SERVICES (DEH) (EXEMPT INFORMATION – PARAGRAPHS 12, 13 AND 15) –

           

The Committee received a presentation and interviewed four candidates in respect of the above post.

 

Having given due consideration, it was

 

RESOLVED – T H A T D be appointed to the post of Head of Housing and Building Services, with the appointment being made at the first salary point of the Head of Service salary range.

 

Reason for decision

 

To appoint a candidate to the above post.

 

 

1012           RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HEAD OF STRATEGY, COMMUNITY LEARNING AND RESOURCES (DLS) (EXEMPT INFORMATION – PARAGRAPHS 12, 13 AND 15) –

 

The Committee received verbal feedback on the results of the assessment centre activities from the Director of Learning and Skills on the individual performance of the five long listed candidates.  Related assessment centre information was also tabled for the Committee’s consideration.

 

Having given consideration to all the available information, it was

 

RESOLVED – T H A T B be shortlisted for final interview on 27th April, 2017.

 

Reason for decision

 

To ensure the appointment proceeds in accordance with the Council’s Constitution.
