SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE
Minutes of a meeting held on 19th July, 2017.

RESOLVED – T H A T the minutes of the meeting held on 14th June, 2017 be approved as a correct record.
172 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST –
No declarations were received.
173 RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HEAD OF RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND SAFEGUARDING (DSS) –
Following the promotion of the current post holder to the vacant position of Head of Adult Services and Locality Manager, it was now necessary to put in place the recruitment and selection arrangements in regard to the above post.
It was proposed to advertise the post concurrently internally on the Council’s website and externally in Community Care and Wales Online, Linked in and the Job Centre in early September 2017.
A copy of the proposed job description and person specification was attached at Appendices A and B to the report. In addition, tabled for Members’ consideration was a copy of the proposed advert which would be used to advertise the post.
It was proposed that an initial short list of suitable candidates would be agreed in mid-September by the Director of Social Services in consultation with the relevant Cabinet Member and a representative from Human Resources having regard to the proposed job description and person specification for the post. Following short listing, the selected candidate(s) would be invited to technical interviews in early October 2017.
On conclusion of the above process, suitable applicants would be identified to attend interviews later in that month.
(1) T H A T the recruitment and selection arrangements, including the relevant documentation appended to the report and job advertisement tabled at the meeting, be approved.
(2) T H A T the initial short listing of candidates be undertaken by the Director of Social Services in consultation with the relevant Cabinet Member and a representative from Human Resources during mid-September 2017.
Reasons for decisions
(1) To ensure the appointment was progressed in accordance with the requirements of the Council’s Constitution.
(2) To ensure that the timescale for progressing the recruitment process were met.
