SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE

 

Minutes of a meeting held on 19th October, 2017.

 

Present:  Councillor J.W. Thomas (Chairman); Councillor T.H. Jarvie (Vice-Chairman); Councillors L. Burnett, Dr. I.J. Johnson and R.A. Penrose.

 

 

404     APOLOGY FOR ABSENCE –

 

This was received from Councillor N. Moore.

 

 

405     MINUTES –

 

RESOLVED – T H A T the minutes of the meeting held on 25th September, 2017 be approved as a correct record.

 

 

406     DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST –

 

No declarations were received.

 

 

407     EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC –

 

RESOLVED – T H A T under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 4 of Schedule 12A (as amended) of the Act, the relevant paragraphs of the Schedule being referred to in brackets after the minute heading.

 

 

408     RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HEAD OF RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND SAFEGUARDING (EXEMPT INFORMATION – PARAGRAPHS 12, 13 AND 15) (DSS) –

 

In accordance with the previously agreed process, four candidates had been shortlisted for technical interviews, following which two of the candidates had been invited for further interview at this meeting.

 

Following the two interviews and having given consideration, it was

 

RESOLVED –

 

(1)       T H A T no appointment be made to the above vacant post. 

 

(2)       T H A T delegated authority be granted to the Managing Director and the Director of Social Services in liaison with the Chairman of the Committee to make the necessary arrangements to re-advertise the post in appropriate publications and, if necessary, to make changes to the job description, person specification and to agree an appropriate advert.

 

Reasons for decisions

 

(1)       That no suitable candidates had been identified.

 

(2)       To allow the post to be re-advertised as quickly as practicable.
