Report of the Director of Environment and Housing

 

Recruitment and Selection Arrangements for the Head of Housing and Building Services

 

Purpose of the Report

  1. To provide the Committee with an update on the recruitment and selection arrangements for the post of Head of Housing and Building Services and to ask the Committee to confirm a short-list of candidates for final interview on the 5th April 2017.

Recommendation

  1. To note the information presented within the report and confirm a shortlist of candidates for final interview.

Reason for the Recommendation

  1. To ensure the appointment is in accordance with the Councils Constitution.

Background

  1. The Senior Management Appointment Committee met on the 16th March to consider applications for the post of Head of Housing and Building Services
  2. As a result of the above it was agreed of the 25 candidates who submitted an application for the post, 12 should be invited for technical interview and assessment.

Relevant Issues and Options

  1. In accordance with the above the candidates have been invited for preliminary interview and assessment on the 27th and 28th March 2017.
  2. A summary of the outcome of the officer interview and assessment centre will be given at the meeting on the 30th March with recommendations for a final short list of candidates to be interviewed by this committee on the 5th April 2017.
  3. The application details for the short listed candidates will be available at the meeting on the 30th March together with a suggested presentation topic to be delivered by candidates as part of their final interview.

  1. The vacancy is a consequence of the current post holder having resigned.
