Agenda Item No. 6(b)

THE VALE OF GLAMORGAN COUNCIL

COUNCIL: 7TH DECEMBER, 2011

REFERENCE FROM CABINET: 2ND NOVEMBER, 2011

"C1495          INNOVATION QUARTER: HYDRAULIC PUMPHOUSE, BARRY WATERFRONT (EDR) (SCRUTINY - ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT) -

The external refurbishment works (the enveloping project) had been completed at the end of September, 2011 within budget, leaving a surplus of c. £160,000.  Members considered the proposal to vire that sum for additional works within the Innovation Quarter as detailed in the report.  It was also intended to dispose of the Hydraulic Pumphouse site by way of a 999 year lease to secure a new end use as part of the ongoing regeneration of the area.  The Welsh Government had confirmed there would be no clawback of the £800,000 grant and was supportive of the Council marketing the building on the basis of a 999 year lease disposal.

This was a matter for Executive decision saving for the virement of £70,000 referred to in resolution (4) above which required the approval of Full Council.
