ROWIP Update


  • Exegesis pilot survey was delayed from end of last year to beginning of January. This has however now been carried out and notes filtered into survey manual.


  • Works were anticipated to begin this week in respect of guided walks at Leckwith Woods. These works will incorporate barriers to deter motorcyclists and drainage at the northern end of the woods.


  • Minor works on St Georges walk have been delayed due to wet weather though are anticipated to commence shortly.


  • No further information on extra 10%.



Coastal Access Improvement Programme Update


  • Quotes received on Porthkerry Beach drainage have come in very high (options at 178K, 148K, 27K from Atkins). One set of quotes is still outstanding. Other options include boardwalk, raising the level of footpath or investigating investment in maintenance assets for park to enable more efficient clearage of existing drains. 


  • Funding for this year’s CAIP has been claimed at 100% backdated to the start of the financial year.


  • Offers have been issued to landowners including compensation amount based on advice from independent valuation. Meetings with Dunraven Estates (who represent the largest landowner of the paths to be dedicated) have been completed.


  • Highways Act s25 Creation and Dedication agreements are with legal services for verification.


  • A meeting with estates is scheduled for 25th January to discuss Deeds of Dedication in respect of land owned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council
