Matter which the Chairman has decided is urgent by virtue of the recent developments with regard to the proposed transfer of the Independent Living Fund.
SCRUTINY COMMITTEE (SOCIAL CARE AND HEALTH): 7TH NOVEMBER, 2013
Update 7th of November 2013
1) Yesterday the Court of Appeal upheld a legal challenge by five disabled people against the UK Government's decision to close the Independent Living Fund (ILF) in March 2015.
2) The ILF have contacted local authorities to advise that they will be cancelling all activity related to the transfer of the fund.
3) Welsh Government officials have advised that they are no longer intending to carry out consultation in to the possible options for transferring the fund.
4) It remains to be seen whether the UK Government will seek to revisit the idea of closing the Fund.
