Improvement Objectives 2016/17
Whilst we are constantly striving to improve all our services, it is important for us to identify a small number of areas where we want to focus our attention in order to achieve significant improvements more quickly.
The Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009 requires us to consult on and publish our improvement objectives on an annual basis, and to report our performance against these objectives.
Our improvement objectives for 2016/17 have been informed by our Corporate Plan (a four year plan of council priorities), our annual service planning process and information on how well council services are performing including findings from service regulators' assessments. We have also considered the findings of a number of recent consultations.
Vale of Glamorgan Council's Improvement Objectives for 2016/17
Challenging targets have been set against all measures for improvement, reflecting the Council's commitment to continuously improve the services it provides. At the same time, the Council is also mindful of significant financial and service demand pressures over the coming year and key targets and milestones for proposed improvement objectives have been set within this context.
Proposed improvement objectives for the coming year:
Reduce poverty and social exclusion
Promoting regeneration, economic growth and employment
Raising overall standards of achievement
Encouraging and promoting active and healthy lifestyles
Deliver the Council's transformational programme, 'Reshaping Services' to meet the future needs of citizens of the Vale of Glamorgan, within the context of unprecedented financial challenges.
We asked our strategic partners and other key stakeholders to share their views on the draft improvement objectives for 2016/17. This consultation is now closed. The authority is grateful to everyone who took the time to fill in the survey and to those who let us know their views.
