The recent Barry Jobs Fair organised by Barry Communities First and Job Centre Plus has been hailed as a great success with over 1250 visitors.

The event held on March 21 provided the opportunity for attendees to apply for jobs and receive advice from local employers such as Admiral and Primark on employment opportunities.

A special guest speaker, Cardiff Blues rugby player Andries Pretorius, was also on hand to offer an insight into the challenges he faced to get where he is today.

Deputy Minister for Tackling Poverty Vaughan Gething said: “This Jobs Fair is a really good example of how Communities First can be really effective by working with different partners from small training providers to large employers to deliver a large range of opportunities to the residents of Barry.”

Barry Communities First are a Welsh Government funded project aimed at improving the health, learning and prosperity of residents living in parts of Buttrills, Cadoc, Castleland, Court or Gibbonsdown.
