The Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet held a business breakfast meeting at the Vale Show on Wednesday to discuss ways to improve the area as a tourist destination.
As part of the Vale Council’s commitment to help local businesses, a Destination Action Plan was drafted after a range of different ideas were discussed and put forward by residents and local businesses at the Vale Show in 2012.
Local businesses and organisations attended the breakfast to discuss the plan, which looks to build the reputation of the Vale with tourists.
The business breakfast event forms a key part of consultation on the plan. Guests in attendance were encouraged to have their say on the draft plan.
A number of innovative suggestions were made during the session on how the Council could continue to move forward in transforming the Vale into an even more popular tourist destination. All of the comments made at the breakfast will now be considered and any necessary amendments made to the draft plan ahead of its formal adoption.
There was also a short presentation at the event by Steve Webb, a specialist in destination and tourism management.
Following the successful session Cllr Neil Moore, the Leader of the Council, said: “The Destination Action Plan, once formally adopted, will set out a vision, priorities and actions needed to improve all activities and schemes that impact on visitors and their enjoyment of the Vale.
The plan will represent another major step towards the Vale of Glamorgan fulfilling its potential as a first class tourism destination.”
