Vale success continues with outstanding GCSE results

21 August 2014

Once again the Vale of Glamorgan’s schools have produced outstanding results, this time at GCSE level.

Cllr Chris Elmore, the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: "The Vale’s GCSE results this year show a notable improvement which is testament to the hard work of pupils and staff."

Entries have decreased marginally by 248 to 12660 this year. At A/A* grade pupils are 1.2% higher than last year's performance. Over 1 in 5 of GCSE exam entries results in an A* or A grade whilst 70.9% of all entries result in an A*-C grade. This is an increase of 3.9% compared to last year. There has been an increase in A*- G grade passes, which are 98.8% this year, an increase of 0.7%, compared to last year.
