Plas Glyn Y Weddw installationArt Central, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s art gallery in Barry, will be hosting a talk by Helen Sear ahead of her work being shown at the 56th International Art Exhibition, the Venice Biennale, in 2015.

Sear will be the first woman to represent Wales with a solo exhibition in the Venice Biennale, during the exhibition entitled ‘All the World’s Futures’.

And Art Central is offering the chance to meet the Wales representative, and hear first-hand about her work and how she is preparing for the exhibition.

Doors will open at 7pm on 4 December 2014. The event is free of charge and has been organised by Art Central Friends. Booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Sear studied Fine Art at Reading University and University College London. She began her PHD at the University of Wales, Newport in 2009, and has kept strong links since. Being based in Wales since 1984, representing Wales at the Venice Biennale has long been an ambition of hers. Sear’s work moves between photography, sculpture and video with her recent work focused on the relationship between humanity and the natural world.

The Venice Biennale has been taking place every other year since 1895 and has been growing ever since. Now approaching its 56th art exhibition, the Biennale has established a name for itself and with next year’s Biennale showcasing art from 53 different Countries.
