Friday-Week-1Recycling and Waste Calendars Go Online

01 December 2014

From December 2014 paper recycling and waste calendars will be replaced by online e-calendars, available via the Council’s website. The calendars will go live on Thursday 4 December.

Residents will be able to enter their postcode online to see the dates of all collections in their area. Black and white paper copies of the calendars will also be available on request for those with no access to the internet by calling C1V on 01446 700111.

The change will see estimated savings for the Council of £24,000. This cost reflects the production, printing and delivery of the calendars to every residential property in the Vale.

Director of Visible Services, Miles Punter, said: “To ensure we can continue to provide an efficient and cost effective service to residents, our waste management team is in the process of reviewing the current collection arrangements using electronic vehicle tracking data. This data will allow us to increase the efficiency of our collections and to reduce the numbers of vehicles we use.

“Inevitably this will have an impact on some if not all collection days, but will result in significant savings, which will assist in protecting front-line service delivery at this difficult time financially for all Councils. We will have details of the new collection arrangements available in the next couple of months and will inform all residents of the new arrangements as soon as they become available.”

Current black bag and recycling collections days will remain the same for the meantime. The garden waste service will revert to a ring and request service between 1 December 2014 and 27 February 2015.
