Building Excellence Awards 2014

The eleventh Vale of Glamorgan Council Building Control Group Building Excellence awards were held at the Mount Sorrel Hotel Barry on the 31 January 2014.
Presentation at Building Excellence AwardsThe evening was attended by; Councillor Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Innovation and Planning and Transportation, Councillor Frederick Johnson, Chairman of the Planning Committee, the Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Councillor Margaret Wilkinson, Rob Thomas, Director of Development Services for the Council and the Building Control team.
Sponsors of the event also attended; Mount Sorrel Hotel, Jan Irving from the Glamorgan Gem, Nina and Rob of Nina Estate Agents, Paul & Helen Thomas of ACD Recycling & Skip Hire and Green Build Consult.
Marcus Goldsworthy Operational Manager for Development and Building Control at the Vale of Glamorgan Council hosted the evening and said: “Nominations in every category, were of the very highest quality and I congratulate all the winners who will now have the chance to compete against the winners from other councils in South Wales in the South Wales Building Excellence awards 2014.”
The South Wales Building Excellence awards 2014 will be held at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel and Spa Resort, Hensol, on 25 April 2014 and will be hosted by Owen Money.
Winner at Building Excellence AwardsMarcus is also hopeful of national success and explained: “I am also hopeful that some of these schemes will go forward to the Building Excellence award national finals, which will be held in London in November 2014, especially as we were lucky enough to have a national winner in 2013.The awards have shown the quality of work that is being undertaken throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and we are proud to be rewarding and encouraging quality in the construction industry.”
