Foster Care Fortnight a big success

The Vale Council’s Placements & Permanency Team has hailed Foster Care Fortnight as a big success after it saw an increase in enquiries and engagement in fostering.
Lots of eager enquiries came into the team, especially following the two meet and greet sessions held in Tesco in Barry, so much so that the team are looking to try and host a regular event.
Local station Bro Radio also helped spread the Foster Care Fortnight message, interviewing two people currently looking after children and getting an insight into the life of a foster carer.
Vale Council Social Worker Gareth Matthews said: “It was good to discuss the topic of Fostering openly with the general public. The radio interview was very interesting and it was great to have the contrasting experiences of two different carers.
“I’m really pleased that so many people showed an interest in fostering. We’ve got lots more events planned for the summer, so we’re hoping that even more show an interest then.”
