Olive Celebrates 100 Years

Olive Ball, a resident at the Cartref Porthceri Care Home, has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Staff at the care home held a party with lots of food, plenty of decorations all over the home, and entertainment, including a live singer and dancing for all of the residents and staff.
She was joined by her niece Rita, who visits her daily, and was presented with a birthday cake made especially for her by the home’s cook.
Olive was also visited by Mayor Howard Hamilton and his wife Carol, but her favourite birthday treat was receiving her 100th birthday card from Her Majesty the Queen.
Olive has lived in Barry since she was two years old, living on both Holton Road and Brook Street, and was brought up as the youngest of nine children with three brothers and five sisters.
One of Olive’s fondest memories is of the dog next door when she was little, that her mother said taught her to walk, sitting on her father’s back.
