Vale Councillors Praise Tenovus ManVan

20 June 2014

The Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cllr Howard Hamilton, and Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Chris Elmore, have spoken glowingly about the Tenvous ManVan after dropping in on the service at Barry Island during the Barry Festival of Transport earlier this month.

After the event the Mayor said: “I am pleased that awareness is being raised of this important issue and I congratulate everyone involved on their work.”

The ManVan is a converted, 38ft American-style motorhome. The van is travelling to Welsh communities across the country to support men living with, or affected by, prostate and testicular cancer. The ManVan is designed to bring one to one counselling, couples’ counselling, group support and welfare rights advice to men who live in deprived or hard-to-reach areas.

Cllr Chris Elmore said: “The ManVan provides a much needed service for residents of the Vale and I was delighted to see it located in Barry this month.

The friendly and approachable staff were a credit to Tenovus and created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

I look forward to welcoming the team back to the Vale of Glamorgan in July when they will be visiting Penarth.”

The Tenovus ManVan will feature as part of the Penarth Festival, Glebe Street, Penarth on 19 July 2014.
