Vale Successfully Prosecutes Ogmore Farm Riding Centre
Published 10 June 2014
The owner of Ogmore Farm Riding Centre has been convicted of three counts of failing to report an accident.
The defendant Mr Robert Williams was charged with three offences under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013, of failing to report accidents to the Local Authority. For each offence he was fined £2,000.
He was also charged with one offence of failing to ensure the health and safety of persons not in his employment, for which he was fined £1,000.
A Costs Order was also made in the sum of £12,000.00, bringing the total fine to £19,000.
This is not the first time Mr Williams has been involved with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Environmental Health team after he admitted failing to report an accident to the Vale of Glamorgan Council in 2003.
He was also handed an improvement order by the Vale of Glamorgan Council in 2009 following concerns over the condition of two of the horses at the centre, resulting in the two animals being taken into care.
