Bro Radio Celebrates Five Years on the Air

Thursday 10 April saw Bro Radio volunteers, staff, and directors meet up with the stations supporters and advertisers to celebrate five years of Bro Radio on air.


The event held at The Dolphin Bar on Barry Island showcased three local artists, along with speeches from local dignitaries including Vale AM Jane Hutt, Vale MP Alun Cairns and Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council Neil Moore, who all praised the station, its volunteers and its strong partnership with the YMCA Hub over the past five years.

The evening also featured the release of a new promotional video to show the local community that although the station provides local radio “For the Vale”, it also provides so much more. The video called “More than just radio”, showcases volunteers’ roles with in the station and how the station has helped them as individuals over its five years on air, and can be found on YouTube.


Leader of The Vale of Glamorgan Council, Neil Moore said: “As Leader of the Vale Council and resident of Barry, I am very proud to be associated with Bro Radio. We can always rely on them to keep people informed, especially when we have major incidents or adverse weather conditions. Bro Radio makes a huge contribution to the community and its output is a credit to all of those involved. Behind the scenes there is a multitude of volunteers who band together to make sure everything runs smoothly and professionally.”


Managing director Clive Silver said: “Bro Radio has been broadcasting to The Vale since 2009, but as a station we provide so much more than other local stations. The station is at the heart of the community, giving local people support, training, education and most importantly a voice with in their local area. The video shows our supports, advertisers and the community that Bro Radio is more than just a radio station.”
