John Griffiths AM, the Minister for Culture and Sport visited the Vale of Glamorgan to see the improvements made since the Council teamed up with Parkwood Leisure to manage the Council’s Leisure Centre.

Following a meeting with the Leader of the Council, Cllr. Neil Moore and the Cabinet Member for Leisure, Cllr. Gwyn John the Minister took an extended tour of the facilities now on offer at Barry Leisure Centre.

During the tour the Minister took time to talk to customers and staff about the changes that have taken place since Parkwood Leisure had taken over the management of sites.

Following the visit, Cllr. Gwyn John said: “The minister commented on how welcoming the Leisure Centre now looked following recent improvement works to the reception and fitness suite areas.

He was also extremely pleased to see the exercise referral scheme being fully utilised and clearly enjoyed talking to customers on how the scheme was making a significant difference to their lives.

I’m sure that he could also see how leisure centre users have benefited from the Council’s decision to work in partnership with Parkwood Leisure to deliver its leisure centre service.”
