50 Plus Forum Celebrates 10 Years at Barry Memo

The Vale’s 50 Plus Strategy Forum celebrated its 10th birthday at the Memorial Hall in Barry on 30 September.

50 Plus Forum 10 Years OldForum members from across the Vale joined in the celebrations, as well as residents and staff of the Cartref Porthceri care home, who enjoyed a wonderful spread of cakes and biscuits, and a cup of tea or coffee.

There was a Bon Marche fashion show, modelled by the forum members themselves, and a tea dance organised by the Sway Dance team based at Barry Leisure Centre.

There were also stalls providing a wide range of information, including the very popular digital inclusion stall, offering advice on keeping up with technology.

But the undoubted highlight of the day was the Tenovus Sing With Us choir leading the whole room in a lively sing-along.

A spokesperson for the forum said: “We would like to thank the Mayor and Mayoress of Llantwit Major, Cllr. Mike Mason and his wife Bridget, for supporting this event, officers from the Vale Council, all the stall holders who provided such a wide range of information to the general public throughout the course of the day, our Older People’s coordinator, and our forum members for providing us with such a wide variety of cakes and savouries for our free event.”
