The return of Barry Island’s cinema by the sea and the award winning Isle of Fire event for 2015 has been agreed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council as part of a packed events agenda for the next year.
A report agreed on 27 April has confirmed details of the 31 events that will be delivered by the Council either directly or in partnership with others during the next twelve months.
The wide ranging programme which offers something for everyone includes events put on by the Council itself, such as the Barry Island Weekenders and King Square Christmas Light Switch On and those which are managed by community groups but supported either financially or with help and guidance by the authority’s tourism and marketing team.
Miles Punter, Director of Visible and Housing Services, said: “Every year the Vale Council organises and supports a varied programme of events across the Vale. These events make an important addition to the tourism offer within the Vale and to the quality of life for residents.
“2014’s events programme was a huge success, with the Isle of Fire and 3D Christmas lights projection particular highs. Not content with that though, we intend to build on those achievements and work with a wide range of community groups to provide an even broader events programme that will offer something for everyone.”
