Youth Forum welcomes new members

The Vale Youth Forum welcomed a number of new members recently at two meet and greet sessions.


The new members came from Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, Cowbridge Comprehensive, Barry Youth Action, Murchfield Youth Club, Beechwood College, Right’s Ambassadors, Vale People First and CAVC.


Vale Youth Forum posterNew members took part in an induction training session on Saturday 18 April to learn more about the Vale of Glamorgan and the range of services and facilities available to young people. They learnt more about why it is important for young people to be involved in decision-making that affects them, and learnt more about the structure of VYF meetings.


There was also a workshop organised by the Right’s Ambassadors, a project run by the Youth Service, to educate new members on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.


The Vale Youth Forum is a group of young people aged between 11-25 who represent different schools, youth clubs and youth organisations across the Vale.  The meet up to discuss issues affecting young people and work with decision-makers to ensure young people have a say on decisions that affect them.


Members have also recently launched a Youth Forum termly newsletter, available on the Council website, to update people on their work and talk about any upcoming forum events.
