Vale playgroup commended for high standards

The Ladybirds playgroup, run by the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Flying Start team, has been praised for its high standards by the Wales Pre-school Providers Association (WPPA).

The playgroup based on Holton Road in Barry provides high quality childcare for children aged 2-3 years residing in the Flying Start areas of the town.
The ‘Quality for All’ assessor from WPPA, attended the childcare setting and carried out observations to establish the level of care provided. The inspection covered aspects of the indoor and outdoor learning environment, staff interaction with children and parents, and safety. In the inspector’s findings the Ladybirds centre was ‘Highly Commended’ for its performance.
Cllr Chris Elmore, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Schools, said: “This inspection has helped to highlight the brilliant efforts of the Flying Start team. Providing high quality childcare is just one example of the great work that the team are responsible for. The award is fully deserved and I would like to add to it my thanks for the hard work and dedication showed by the Ladybirds team who do everything in their power to ensure children in their care receive the best possible start in life.”
Kathryn Clarke, Flying Start Early Years and Childcare Manager, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ladybirds childcare team for their hard work and commitment. They fully deserve their new ‘Highly Commended’ status.”
