Beach Huts Rental Policy Announced

20 February 2015

After a wave of visitors hit the new look Barry Island during half term, details of how the striking new beach huts can be hired have been announced.

The new look eastern promenade at Barry Island now features 24 vibrantly coloured beach huts. The huts command excellent views across Whitmore Bay and are a central part of the major regeneration of the historic eastern shelter and promenade.

Two blocks of twelve huts sit either side of the visually stunning climbing wall and take centre stage on the rejuvenated eastern promenade.

The larger huts are around 2.4m x 2.5m, while the smaller cabins are around 2.5m x 1.8m. Both are designed to provide families and groups visiting Barry Island with a comfortable base for the day as well as a private area to change and store their possessions.

The larger huts feature electricity sockets and have access to running water.

The huts will be available to hire all year round from 23 March 2015. During spring and summer the huts will be available from 10:00 until 20:00 (22:00 during peak weeks) at a cost of £20 per day for the smaller huts and £40 per day for the larger units. During autumn and winter the huts will be available from 10:00 until 18:00 at a cost of £15 and £30 per day.

Visitors to Barry Island will soon be able to book the huts in advance online and via the Contact One Vale call centre. The larger huts will also be available to community groups and commercial traders during certain weeks of the year.
