New panels are being installed in Cowbridge to give visitors information on the town and its history.
The project is being delivered by the Cowbridge Town Team, made up of traders and community representatives who have been working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Town Centre Development Officer.
Sarah Smith, owner of Old Masons Yard and member of the Town Team, said: “Cowbridge has such a rich and interesting history, dating back to Roman times, and there is so much we have to offer for visitors. This is a great way of engaging with people, and getting them engaged in the town.”
Following a report that identified the need for more visitor information, the Town Team decided to develop the project, helping bring some of Cowbridge’s untold history of to life through images and information.
Cllr Lis Burnet, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “This is a great example of how regeneration can be achieved working in partnership with the community. It is vital that local people are at the forefront of regeneration in the Vale.”
The £20,000 project was part funded by The Vale Council and Creative Rural Communities’ Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
