Works are progressing well on the construction of the viewing platform at Penarth Head Park.

The Park offers spectacular views across the Bristol Channel towards the Devon coastline, Flatholm, Steepholm and overlooks Penarth pier.

The viewing platform also has ramped access to assist disabled users.

Visitors will be given an insight into the history of the local area with the installation of interpretation plaques noting points of interest across the Channel. A key feature will be a central mosaic seat built in the shape of the logo of the Wales Coast Path, which runs through the park.

The scheme will also see refurbishments to the boundary railings and gates, as well as improvements to the park entrance leading southwards to Clive Crescent.

Cllr Lis Burnett, who welcomed the regeneration of the park, said: “The Council recognises the importance that green space plays in the life of the local community as well as visitors to the area. These improvements will ensure that the park becomes a special destination for users of the Wales Coast Path offering unrivalled views in a unique cliff top setting.”

The finished project is set to be unveiled in April.
