Steps to improve Whitmore Bay

Further improvements are being made along the Barry seafront, as the steps on the western side of Whitmore Bay from the beach to Friars Point are set to be improved.
The work will see the removal of the existing damaged concrete steps to be replaced with a brand new reinforced slab and steps.
Work is set to commence on Monday 26 January and is expected to take around three weeks, during which time the existing steps will need to be closed.
A diversion via the ramp in front of the lifeguard building will be signposted and will remain in place until the works are completed.
The work forms part of the further improvements planned for Barry Island, following the multi million pound regeneration of the Eastern promenade.
Cllr Gwyn John, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: "While it’s only a small improvement in the grand scheme of things, we’re hoping that easier access to Whitmore Bay will encourage more people to get outside and go for a walk, and that can only be a good thing.
"This is only the beginning of a set of leisure improvements across the Vale, all of which will help keep people active."
