Vale Council Keeps Traffic Moving

14 January 2015

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Highway Maintenance Team was out in force last night dealing with the difficult weather conditions of overnight rain, sleet, hail and snow.

To help residents plan their travel around the county a map showing roads which are subject to precautionary salting, and a wide range of other information about our winter services, is available online.

Michael Clogg, Operational Manager Highways and Engineering, said: “Our teams were out from midnight to daybreak salting roads across the Vale.  As a result of this all main roads were passable this morning. Of course it is not possible for us to treat every single road in the Vale and so due caution will still need to be exercised if driving along any untreated roads.

“The forecast for the rest of this week is for rising temperatures and rain. However, if today’s high winds strengthen to gale force by this evening as predicted, our highways officers will be out again tonight to clear any fallen debris and keep the Vale moving.”
