Improvements planned for the High Street - Broad Street shopping centre
10 July 2015
Plans have been announced to upgrade roads around the High Street -Broad Street shopping centre in Barry to make visiting local shops even easier.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council will release full details of the improvements next week ahead of the start of a four-week consultation on feasibility plans designed to support the promotion of the area as a district shopping centre.
The proposals will include improved car parking facilities, new and improved pedestrian crossing facilities, ‘gateway’ spaces to mark the entrance to the shopping area, bus stop improvements, and improved facilities for cyclists. The consultation period will run from 22 July to 28 August.
During the consultation period residents will be able to view the feasibility plans online, at the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Dock Office, or at one of a series of drop-in-sessions to be held in the area, where they will also be able to discuss details of the proposals with council officers.
If approved, work on the improvements is due to commence in early 2016.
