Same day hire launched for beach huts
15 July 2015
From this weekend visitors to Barry Island will be able to book one of the popular new beach huts for use on the same day.
Following a successful trial the huts will now be staffed every day between 10.00 and 16.00 from Saturday 18 July until 6 September. As well as being on hand to assist visitors and highlight the new features of the improved eastern promenade, the team will also be taking cash payments for hire of both the large and smaller huts.
A full day’s hire of a large hut costs £40 while the smaller huts are available for £20. However, in another innovation to the way the new facility is managed, after 2.00pm all unoccupied huts, both large and small, will be available at a reduced ‘half day’ rate of £20 and £10 respectively. These half day bookings can only be made face-to-face.
Cllr Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “We have received extremely positive feedback from users of the beach huts and as we enter what we are expecting to be the busiest summer season for many years we want to ensure that the huts can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
“This new way of working will allow those visitors who were not aware of how to book in advance or who have decided to extend their day on the beach the opportunity to enjoy the attraction that everyone is talking about.”
The beach huts can still be hired in advance via the Contact One Vale call centre by calling 01446 700111.
