Newydd Housing Association will be displaying plans for a proposed new affordable housing development at Wick Road, St Brides Major at a public consultation event on Thursday 16 July 2015.

The drop-in event at The Fox and Hounds Public House, St Brides Major will be open between 1.30pm and 7pm. The public will be able to view pictures and plans of the proposed development and have the opportunity to share their views to help inform Newydd’s planning application.

Proposals designed by Tony King Architects from Penarth include building 19 new homes for affordable rent to local people using a traditional design. The development will offer a four bedroom house, 4 three bedroom houses, 6 two bedroom houses, 2 two bedroom apartments and 6 one bedroom apartments which will help address the identified need for affordable housing in the locality.

If approved this housing development will be an affordable scheme funded by both Social Housing Grant allocated to the Council by the Welsh Government and private finance secured by Newydd.

Paul Roberts, Chief Executive of Newydd Housing Association said: “I would like to encourage local residents to drop in and see us at the event so that we can modify plans according to their views. If anyone is unable to attend the event but would like to share their views they are welcome to contact our planning consultants by calling Joe Ayoubkhani from GJPlanning on 02920 660244 or email joe@gjplanning.co.uk by 30 July 2015.”

Cllr Bronwen Brooks, Cabinet Member for Housing, Building Maintenance and Community Safety at Vale of Glamorgan Council said: “The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Housing Strategy department has worked closely with Newydd in bringing this site forward, which will go some way to addressing the need for affordable housing in the rural Vale. Our Rural Housing Enabler will work in partnership with the St Brides Major Community Council to put in place a Local Lettings Policy which will ensure people with a local connection to St Brides Major are prioritised for these homes and these policies have been successfully applied to other affordable homes in the rural Vale.”
