Lee Selby IBF Featherweight World Boxing Champion Celebrations

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has organised an open-top bus tour through Barry to celebrate home-grown boxer Lee Selby’s title-winning fight in London last week.

When: Saturday 06 June 2015

The 28 year old will be in Barry to greet fans and take part in a Q&A with the crowd, who will get the chance to meet him and get pictures and autographs.

Selby defeated IBF boxer of the year Evgeny Gradovich to win the IBF world featherweight title last Saturday at The O2 Arena.

The Welshman dominated the fight until it was stopped in the eighth round and Selby was unanimously named Wales’ 12th world champion.

To celebrate his achievement, the Council, with support from Barry Town Council, Bro Radio, and boxing promoters Matchroom, has arranged a bus tour through the centre of Barry, ending with a presentation on Barry Island promenade.

The bus, provided by the Cardiff Transport Preservation Group, will set off at around 12.15pm from Tynewydd Road, moving down past King Square, along Holton Road, down Broad Street, back along Harbour Road and onto the promenade.

The presentation and Q&A session will then be held on the promenade from around 12.45pm, hosted by Bro Radio presenter Deano.
