Upgrades for Llanfair Primary School
Published 23 March 2015
Staff and pupils at Llanfair Primary School welcomed a visit from cabinet member for schools Cllr Chris Elmore on 20 March as he marked the beginning of major works to improve the school’s facilities.
The turf-cutting ceremony signalled the beginning of the project, which will see the construction of a brand new combined foundation phase building to replace the current temporary demountable units.
Three new modular classrooms will be built to house all of the foundation phase classes, enabling them free-flow access between classrooms, shared outside learning areas, and gardens, and will also house a PPA room where teachers will be able to plan and prepare their lessons.
Work will also begin on installing a much-needed new roof for the main building, as well as converting the current Year 2 classroom into a meeting room and learning area.
Cllr Elmore said: “This work will be an amazing boost for Llanfair. The pupils will benefit hugely from their brand new classrooms, and staff will get a welcome reprieve in having a dedicated planning room where they can focus on making sure the children get the best school experience possible.”
The improvements are fully funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
