To celebrate the opening of their brand new store at Barry Waterfront, Asda has backed a special library bookmark for every primary school pupil in Barry and the surrounding area.

Pupils from High Street Primary School gathered for an activity session at Barry library on 23 April, where they were presented with their brand new bookmarks.

Launched to celebrate World Book Night, the colourful bookmarks, created by Leicester-based bookmark designers The Bookmark People, advertise the range of services available at Vale of Glamorgan libraries, from homework help to e-books.

They also act as a handy ruler, and feature a fun maze and word search on the back for children to complete.

The pupils also took part in a puppet theatre workshop, where they created their own puppet characters using fabric, felt, and decorations.

The Asda superstore at Barry Waterfront was officially opened in April 2015 by foster carer Brenda Rees who was invited to open the store following a search for a local hero.

Brenda was joined for the opening by the Mayor and Mayoress of the Vale, the Mayor of Barry, Vale AM Jane Hutt and Cllr Chris Elmore.
