Vale of Glamorgan Council Finalists in Waste Management Awards

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has been shortlisted by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) for a Sustainability and Resource Award. The awards recognise good examples of partnership working to achieve a safer, cleaner environment.


The Council was nominated for its initiative in setting up the Visible Services Task Group comprising, Keep Wales Tidy, South Wales Police, the Probation Service, Youth Offending Service, South Wales Fire Service, Fly tipping Wales, local businesses, landlords and members of the local community. The Visible Services Task Force provides advice and help on recycling and disposing of waste correctly.


Cabinet Member for Visible and Leisure Services Councillor Gwyn John, “This is a wonderful achievement, and shows how much more effective we can be when we work in partnership with others.  Initiatives such as this foster a real community spirit and will hopefully make the Vale of Glamorgan a safer and cleaner place for visitors and residents alike.”


The award ceremony takes place in London on Thursday, 5th November 2015.
