Vale's Countryside team on search for volunteers

30 August 2016

The Vale of Glamorgan’s Countryside service has been searching for people interested in maintaining the natural beauty of the Vale of Glamorgan, recently taking its search to Dunraven Park, Cosmeston Country Park and Ogmore-by-the-sea.

Most recently, the Countryside team congregated at the Portabello car park at Ogmore-by-the-sea, before setting out on a public litter picking session to the mouth of the river Ogmore.

Now, more volunteers are needed, with the team particularly keen for assistance to manage the walled gardens, such as Dunraven walled gardens (Southerndown) which recently saw a group of volunteers from Lloyds Bank help tidy the gardens. The team is also set to hit locations such as Cosmeston Medieval Village, Porthkerry Country Park, and the Barry Island beach huts, hoping to promote these volunteer days and actively welcome questions, from residents, regarding how people can get involved with their team.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Countryside and Environment team work on a wide range of tasks, including the management and maintenance of Public Rights of Way, the conservation of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and the management of the Vale’s environment. The main locations under its care include Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Medieval Village, Porthkerry Country Park and The Glamorgan Heritage Coast.
